Better research for better AI and media.

The AIxMedia Institute is a non-profit research organization that drives original analyses on how individuals, organizations, issues, and events are represented in society and media with an eye focused on the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Our main goals are to leverage both social media analytics and artificial intelligence to provide unique insights that otherwise would be unattainable.

We also partner with world leading experts and organizations, including Microsoft, to provide publicly available media skills training and micro-credentials in financial literacy where students of all ages can earn while they learn.

How else does AIxMedia contribute?

While the topics of how people, places, and things are represented in society and media are *huge* and generate a lot of clicks and eyeballs for major media networks, talking heads, and commentators, what is missing from the discourse is a readily available public knowledge base that is rooted in empirical analyses and rigorous peer review. At AIxMedia, we believe these findings are essential to contribute to the conversation because these are not just opinions but objectively informed social scientific research that is powered by data analytics and insights powered by AI.

Therefore, it is the mission of AIxMedia to stimulate access to data, support cross-institutional collaborations, and open doors to events and rapid publication processes.

For example, when we need to know more about health conditions, we seek the advice of doctors and medical researchers carrying out original peer-reviewed research based on clinical trials informed by reliable data. Similarly, when we need to know more about how individuals, organizations, issues, and events are being represented in society and media, we believe that we need to turn to an ideological diverse range of scholars producing original peer-reviewed research, in particular analyses that are informed by social media analytics and emergent forms of AI to empirically measure those trends because that is how opinions can be shaped and beliefs reinforced.

The big picture.

Opinions and beliefs about ourselves, our neighbors, our communities, and our organizational systems are vital human characteristics to understand. These attitudes are constantly at play, and never before has our society been so divided and polarized around not just issues of identity and representation in society and media, but how these issues connect to larger trends in politics, health, personal choice, and more.

AIxMedia was founded to expand the accessibility of knowledge and training to help contribute to better research for better representation.

Welcome to the AIxMedia Institute!
